I want snow!! I'm sick of seeing sun in the forecast for days on end. And that's coming from a person who hates the winter. It's almost a little scary the way this weather has failed to produce snow/precip. If it's going to be fall/winter, I want it to feel and look like it! Plus, FI and I have a gazillion ski pack passes to area resorts and it's going to hurt going down the slopes when I fall on my tush and land on jagged rocks instead of powdery snow.

Listening to local Colorado radio while I was up there in the summer, there was a call-in show about the drought and I heard farmers/ranchers calling in from all over the country, some literally crying because they had no rain, their crops were burning and dairy farmers were sending their stock to the slaughter. this country needs rain and we need it yesterday.

It's not a good thing, to hear a grown man cry, and realize that he's a tough-as-they-come rancher who has been just beat down by the weather.

The host asked one guy when the last time his ranch received rain, and he said... 3 years ago.

Not to make light of how serious a lack of rain can become (as pointed out in the post by Arcos), but I'd gladly trade some of our rain for a nice stretch of sunny, dry weather. I just got my car washed this past Thursday, and here it is Sunday and it's raining again (seems it's been raining on Sunday for the past few weekends, ruining any chance I had of spending free time outdoors). Rain expected here tomorrow and Tuesday as well. You can't go a week here without getting at least one or two days of rain.

As for a lack of snow, that doesn't bother me personally as I don't particularly like it. But for those of you that do, remember that the winter doesn't officially begin until December 21st. That is, of course if the world doesn't come to an end that day as the Mayans have predicted, lol.

If the choice is winter or the end of the world, I'll choose winter any day!

It's the end of the world? I didn't get the memo.

Damn..., I better go hide out in some former missle silo in Kansas.

Snow, dangerous winds disrupting N.M.
Published : Saturday, 09 Feb 2013, 12:16 PM MST

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - With winds gusting above 50 mph Albuquerque's normally blue skies gave way Saturday to flying grit and a health warning from the city's environmental agency. The National Weather Service also is warning of damaging winds raking parts of the state into Saturday evening. The main issue is blowing dust creating particulate pollution that can affect people with existing health issues, according to the department. People with respiratory and heart ailments may want to stay indoors, limit physical activity and contact their health care provider if symptoms of heart or lung disease occur, the department added.

Driving on Hwy. 528 yesterday, I almost collided head-on with a tumbleweed that was larger than my SUV. I'm not sure who would have won that battle. It was almost a first.
