If there was actually "2-Feet" of snow on the ground, I find it very hard to believe that schools were not delayed.

Did you ever stop to think that perhaps the school districts that cancel or delay don't have the proper equipment to properly clear the roads and/or sidewalks? When the safety of my children are at risk, I'd much prefer the schools take the cautious approach!

Good point veggies. Plus, it doesn't really make sense to spend lots of money on plowing/salting trucks if it's rarely needed.

Depends, Rio Rancho and Albuquerque own there own, and they own over 50+ so... every road can be plowed, except those dirt ones up in RR.
Well, I say people in Espanola and Los Alamos are used to the snow so they hardly cancel classes, unlike the mtero area where we only see maybe 3 good storms.

Rio Rancho and Albuquerque Public, do in fact have the proper equipment.. that I know because its required by state law, and i work for planning.. your children would be fine.. I'm more concerned about the education my children are receiving than a two inch storm, <Mod cut: provoking>.

It's so funny to hear people that don't live where it snows all the time talk about how dangerous it is. We have 3 feet or so where I live and schools are never closed. We finally this year had a 2 hour delay but that's it.
Denver or CO in general are used to it and should be prepared by now to reasonably clear the roads for safe travel. The ones that have the problems are usually the people driving too fast and carelessly.
I used to live in Seattle area and everything halted there too at a few inches. They just are not prepared, even though it usually snows some every year.

Well if that line was intended to the comments above or the Albuquerque area, your wrong.
It snows here quite often, in the years past not too much. But growing up Albuquerque used to get HUGE snowstorms. The whole part of Northern New Mexico always gets snow. This city is quite in fact prepared.
I'm sure a comment like that was ment for people in Las Vegas, where 3 inches of snow can cause 677 accidents in one day

I agree I remember in my RRPS days I went to Enchanted Hills Elementary (by the way probably the most feminine public school in the southwest!) we had like 3inches in I think 03 and it was like instant cancelation and like the whole city almost shut down. After living in Nebraska I do have to say it seems a little ridiculous!
