Horse folks: Placitas
Is it horse friendly? Is there access to public land?
I heard from my realtor that although there are horse properties and much is zoned for horses, the neighorhood doesn't really like it. Too many city folk who don't want the noise and the smell? (As opposed to the North and South Valley, Corrales, etc)

Yes we have horse properties in Placitas. Some newer subdivisions do not allow them so your realtor needs to find you available listings that specifically allow. But if you really are a horse lover, Corrales is the place you need to be.

If yopu can afford horses you can probably afford Corales.

Placitas isn't exactly cheap. There's Bosque Farms too.

Yup. I really like Bosque Farms, but it's a bit of a drive to Rio Rancho, where BF will be working.
Placitas really isn't the best place, Corrales is. But there aren't a whole lot of listings in our price range right now. Perhaps spring there will be more.

What about the other side of the river from Corrales: Bernalillo. There's more to it than what you see on 550. Maybe there's some horse properties tucked in there.

Yah, I'm not a fan of Rio Rancho, tho there might be hidden gems.
I do have my eye on a couple Bernalillo properties, I'll check out the area later this month.
We need a property where we can ride around the neighborhood to get to trails, or ditches, which counts out most of Rio Rancho, I imagine.

Not sure what your price range is but there are horse properties in Corrales for less than $300k, I was showing there earlier this week. Have your Realtor search again there are a couple of properties that dropped in price very recently.
