All areas are nice, with few exceptions.

The biggest difference is the view: some parts you can see mountains and peaks in the distance, some you can't because the mountains are much closer to you, so you see mountains up close.

Some might think a 100-year-old small house in a neighborhood filled with other 100-year-old small houses is quaint and historic, and others might consider it a barrio slum. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Don't worry about crime in Albuquerque. You are about as safe here as anywhere else in the U.S. (except Detroit).

All those places described and listed in the zillions of old
threads where this question has already been answered
sixty zillion times.

All those places mentioned are pretty nice, IMO.

First, while admittedly Los Ranchos and Corrales are inner-ring suburbs of Albuquerque, is should be noted that they are exactly that - suburbs - not Albuquerque. Placitas is also a wealthy suburb...but a considerably decent driving distance from much of the city tucked away in the Sandia foothills miles northeast of ABQ.

Secondly, all three of these are indeed nice, however, they also are for the wealthy or semi-well off for the most part. You aren't buying a nice $225K home in Placitas or Los Ranchos (and aren't spending much shy of $350K to $2 million).

To the original poster:

Consider options such as the Northeast Heights / Uptown / North Valley area: 87111, 87112, 87110, (portions of) 87109, 87113, 87122 zip codes; 87114 (portions of) in the Northwest. There are also nice areas near UNM / Downtown.

Rio Rancho is a nice, safe, affordable inner-ring suburb that is another option as well.

As long as you'd avoid some significant chunks of the Southeast and Southwest (and a few scattered pockets in the older portions of the Northeast / Downtown / UNM areas), you'd find most of ABQ very nice...ABQ is quite scenic everywhere.

Anyone too lazy to hit the search button will fit right into those neighborhoods.
