Hmmm, No dirt roads where I live. Only ones close by are out behind us, in the desert. And we live wayyyyy out in Northern Meadows.

Maybe the mudflows will make up for the lack of snow this winter? I wonder if the streets of ABQ were paved when the city was founded?

Albuquerque was founded as an outpost of Mexico in 1598 and was named for the Spanish Duke of Alburquerque.

QUESTION: DO THE FOLKS WHOM BASH RR HAVE CHILDREN OF SCHOOL AGE? culture, cookie-cutter or not is all fine and dandy but the overwhelming factors pointing to RR to settle for a working man being relocated to the area are good schools, low crime, and affordable housing and RR has all that. and from what i've seen of the houses- they have ALOT of style in in RR, they look cool as compared to houses everywhere else i've lived; they still have a unique NM look to them that is nice and interesting

The thing is ALL the houses in RR are not identical. Check out some of the ones off 528 going towards Bernalillo.
I've seen alot of cookie cutter homes in ABQ. A house does not make a home.

I guess city folks will never understand the country life. Maybe that is a blessing in disguise.

If I could, I would live out in the middle of nowhere, with no neighbors for miles. But not everyone could handle that.

I would too, but I don't think RR qualifies as country life!

I read all these defensive posts about Rio Rancho and I wonder
why the waste of effort?

Chances are the people who feel compelled to bash the place
would also bash your taste in furniture or clothes or automobiles
or whatever else.

For someone reading from outside who is trying to find out about
the area, the negative posts are still useful. If a person likes
living in the burbs, then they'll probably like Rio Rancho and won't
be put off by someone with an obvious agenda.

I really don't know anyone who lives on the West Side
( Albuquerque or Rio Rancho ) who doesn't like it there.

I'll say it again: There's nothing wrong with Rio Rancho.

Make up your mind. First, you say RR is out in the middle of nowhere. Now its not country life? I am confused.

Mortimer has said it best. RR isn't for everyone, but there's no need to bash it or the people who live there. Personally I wouldn't live in Los Lunas, for example, but I'm not on here tearing it down.

It's both in the middle of nowhere and not country life. Suburbian in process. That's why it's so odd.
