Default Well kids, ABQ, my adopted homeland, here EnjoyEP comes!!...

Well folks -

I guess this thread really presses the official CD Forum Terms of Service (TOS) strongly to their limits, but what the hell.

As long-time posters here know, I have been one of the bigger fans / advocates of Albuquerque since my first visit in 2002. I had the distinct pleasure and amazing fun of living there in my late-20s with my wife (and then-started young family) from 03-until-mid 07 and it was such a tremendous town to live in. I was never even close to disappointed that I moved to Albuquerque; far from it.

The dumbest, most regrettable decision I have made in my semi-youthful life (and I have made my share!!), was relocating my family up out of ABQ back to Milwaukee in mid-2007, despite how much we all loved it in ABQ. We did it to be close to family here. And as nice as it has been to be close to family in MKE, we regret our decision each and every day. It isn't that we hate Milwaukee...we just truly, utterly miss Albuquerque-living - nearly everything about the town (outside of the crazy drivers, the auto insurance rates and the local postal service! ).

Well, since I am a (semi)-youthful professional trying to support a family of 4 on a fairly miserable annual salary, I haven't had the income to justify a trip back to Albuquerque...until now. I am so pumped up as finally I land back in my beloved Sunport / city early next week...and I spend quite a few days vacationing back in the city that I love, my adopted hometown, the Duke City!! My wife/kids are out of town currently, so that allows me a jaunt back to all of our favorite town (they are jealous of my chance to hit A-B-Q! ).

Here is the EnjoyEP itinerary for a week in Burque:

-Hike the Sandias
-Run/walk a few NE Heights parks, the ABQ Academy running path, Tramway Blvd., the Bosque
-Dine at: the Frontier, Barelas, Garcia's (breakfast burrito), Ruben's Mexican, Mariscos Altimar, El Sabor de Juarez, a torta at Frederico's, Taco Cabana
-Cervezas at: Horse N' Angel, Kelly's, O'Neils; maybe a Downtown bar
-Sunrises/sunsets every day, including the "Sandia" on the Sandias; one day watching the sunset from the foothills of the Sandias over the West Mesa
-Cocktail at the High Finance
-Drive all the heck all over the city
-Weep and beat my breast in sackcloth over the decision to leave the town in the first place; beat myself over the head with a rock over such a foohearty decision
-Watch my guy Mark Ronchetti tell me that tomorrow will be a "chilly one" with a high of "only 53"
-Replenish tons of Vitamin D
-If my gas budget allows, get up to Santa Fe to get around a bit
-Get some green chile bagels for snacks from Smith's
-Get some green chile bread from Golden Crown Panaderia
-Beg ABQ employers to throw the recession to the wind and relocate me back!
-Walk in the evening near sunset and smell the pinon as it starts to fire up
-Eat some gorditas
-Take photos GALORE..and post the first ever-photos EnjoyEP has ever posted on the CD forums...and folks, the may be photos until the cows come home.

My only regret is that I really, really wish I could get down to Las Cruces/El Paso, but I just don't think I want to spend $80 in gas to get to/fro. Honestly, if God came down and allowed me to relocate tomorrow, I would tell the almighty to put me back in ABQ (as now I probably should be more "EnjoyABQ"), but that doesn't mean I don't still utterly love El Paso / 'Cruces - I do. I hope to see my beloved Southern NM / West Texas soon too...just when my two little ones aren't draining my wallet so heartily!

My goodness guys, I can't wait to step foot again in the glory that is, to me, my slice of the good life - Albuquerque, NM USA. I rue the day I ever coaxed my family and I to leave, and I REALLY rue the day I have to end this vacation! I am going to soak it up for all its worth.

I love your city.

(And yes, Rio Rancho too! )...

I hope you have a effin' awesome vacation next week, EnjoyABQ! You deserve it! Wish I could come too and you could show me around. I'm looking forward to your photo tour! Feel free to take pictures of any cool looking strip mall you see. Up and down Central, Menaul, Montgomery, etc. And don't forget to take some pictures of that weird green and red stuff I hear they eat down there. And who knows, just maybe a miracle will happen and you'll get some job lead...

For your pictures, if you open an account on flickr and download the free flickr uploadr, and choose to resize your pictures a bit you can easily upload a hundred or more pictures in one shot (though they only let you have 200 pictures visible at a time on a free account). Then the annoying but fun part is grabbing all the url's to paste into the [IMG] [/IMG]'s.

Enjoy EP, you should hire a mariachi group to accompany you. That would make it easier for members of this forum to spot you and say "Welcome back!"

If you just want to go to Santa Fe, you might take the Rail Runner. It seems like it might be a little bit cheaper.

Have fun counting down the days!

Deep down, you are still part of city, even Rio Rancho.

Welcome back for your duration.
