Looking at the grass counts and I'm worried. When we lived in the Willamette Valley of Oregon it was excruciating for me because of grass pollen. I was a prisoner in my house the entire month of June until they harvested the seed. We now live outside of Asheville NC and it is only an issue for a brief period and low level. So for you grass pollen sufferers will I be in misery again if we relocate to Abq. or Santa Fe? Thanks.

I am not a grass pollen sufferer... Some days I feel worse than others. Notice there is a difference on the "East Side" and "West Side"... And I really don't think pollen stops at the border. It varies throughout the city. I guess the winds also move it around. I have never met anyone who has had to stay indoors more than one day because of pollen. That's just my observation since 1999...

And I am wrong, so far. Higher pollen counts than Friday though, and medium levels of anything I'm allergic to are enough to set me off.

City of Albuquerque Daily Pollen Count
One Civic Plaza NW - Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102
505-768-1972

2/12/15

EAST
Type Count Index
Juniper 30 Medium
Elm 25 Medium
Willow 18 Medium
Total 73
WEST

The west side pollen count will start March 1st. The west side pollen sampler is designed to monitor a native, desert environment and the east side sampler will see more tree pollen early in the season.

Important Notes

The rain made a huge impact on the pollen count. This does not mean that the pollen is slowing down, it does mean that the pollen did not get airborne and therefore did not reach the pollen sampler. Once the weather starts to warm again we can expect an increase in the Elm and Juniper numbers.
