My commute one way is 1 hour. It use to be 2 1/2 hour's before I found my current job. The 2 1/2 hour commute involved a 20 minute drive to the train station. Then 1 1/2 hour train ride, transfer to another train, 10 minute train ride, and then finally a 10 minute walk to the office. Boy I don't miss those days.

In order to endure a 1 hour commute, I would need a salary
that is about twice what I consider a fair wage. I would also
be banking a huge percentage of my pay so that after I got
thoroughly burned-out on that commute, I would have something
to show for it.
2.5 hours? It would have to be very temporary or 3x wage.

When the company is providing the vehicle, its not much of a problem.
I would still consider a 2.5 hour one-way commute completely unacceptable.
That's 5 hours out of every day? NO WAY.
Oh I meant the 1 hour commute one way.
Although some of the jobs my husband goes to could be considered a horrid commute. Today he is in Las Vegas, NM working and will be home tonight. But its all part of his job.

It's nice to get paid for window time. It helps wind down between jobs.

Yes. He's been doing this same kind of work for 30 yrs and loves the traveling. Its much easier on him out here than it was back east. He's not outside in sub zero temps anymore.
Okay, a one hour commute is not as bad as 2.5 ... but I still think it is a lot ... my limit when I was working was 30 minutes, tops.
He is used to it. In Maine, you had to drive for at least an hour to get to anywhere. Its better than when he used to only be home on the weekends, as the commute was too great.
