I am sooooo happy that we are back with the Dodgers! Many of my favorite players were those who started here and then went on to the Big Show playing in LA--like Orel Hershiser...my idol when I was a fellow little leaguer.
The 'New' stadium is awesome, but I long for the return of the Dukes as the permanent resident. Lately, I've been buying some Dukes paraphernalia like shirts, pins, mugs, and pennants. Everybody loves it

If Albuquerque can't fill the stadium for Lobo football games, why would anyone believe that it would support a major sports team, especially if that team has a losing record?

I can't keep from almost crying. We were married the year the Dodgers moved to LOs Angeles, the following year I was pregnant with our first baby and hubby worked for a small newspaper in the bay area (so of L.A.) they had season tickets and we would use them, take the bus to the colisium and cheer our boys on. Needless to say, they won the world series that year. Those were the days of a young pitcher who was almost released name Kolfax plus Padres, Klipstien, Drysdale and Rosoburogh (spelling) just to mention a few: Wills joined the team in about August..I guess I could go on and on, so can you imagine how much we would love to watch a AAA Dodger team..?? Oh well, that is then and this is now..
and of course in most recent days, but still back a few years Hershiser (Mr Clean)

When I first moved here the Isotopes were with the Marlins, I had no interest and went to maybe two games in three seasons. Now the Dodgers are back, I'm excited and will be at opening day to take my little one to his first ever baseball game, I'm feeling all American!!

Because it would be pro ball, not college.

Ah, I hadn't considered that, and thinking about it now, I can see that LV could possibly be No. 2 behind ABQ based on the gambling and on the fact that it is no longer booming with the ferocity that it did 5 years ago.
You can pretty much eliminate NFL and MLB as possible donors of a pro team. ABQ simply isn't big enough. Hockey seems to regret its southerly expansion, so my guess is that ABQ isn't high on its list, and I wonder if hockey would even catch on in ABQ.
But basketball teams seem to move around more than any other sport so I'd imagine there's a chance of one settling in ABQ.

ABQ would support the NFL cause everyone here just loves pro football so much more than college football. Its Americas favorite sport and most New Mexican's just dont have any intrest in college football and watching average players play teams like Colorado St. and San Diego St.
Even if the home team is a loosing team I think people would still go to watch em play the other team and watch their big name players.

Desert Sun, I have to disagree with you on this one. You are saying fans do not want to watch NM play teams like Co St and SDSU, there is more to it than that, They have to have a team that excites the crowd. It wasn't many years ago when Co St was rated in the top 25 nationally and in the 90s SDSU was. I do not think ABQ is nearly big enough to support any major league team, especially NFL> Yes it is a great American sport but there has to be a large base to support NFL> It isn't there and won't be for many years if ever..

One thing to consider when buying tickets is cost. Most teams charge something like $2,000 for the right to purchase season tickets. Add at least $65 per ticket to that, and things can get a bit pricey.

Oh Im pretty sure we wont get any kind of professional team for years and years and years to come, ABQ is just a poor city, all Im saying is everyone I know is die hard NFL football fans,if we had a loosing team people would still go just to watch Dallas,Denver,Pittsburgh and some others when they come to town and considering the home games are only a few times a year people would come from all across the state.
