Asian followed by Indian.

(then Italian, then Mexican)

As a disclaimer I have not had ALL mexican food, and what I have had I liked... but lets just say the variety is lacking. Not much difference between an enchillada and a burrito to me. Italian has similar issues I guess, but not as pronounced, they at least have a HUGE variety of foods. Available at a restaraunt, of course.

I realize that REAL mexican food has more variety. It was certainly there on my honeymoon when we went to Cancun, though only slightly more. I know, too, that there is a whole lot of Italian foods not frequented at your local Olive Garden too.

However it isn't fair to group Asian food together either. I'd consider Indian food as Asian, but it is totally different than Vietmanese food which is likewise totally different than Japanese and Korean (both of which are unique to each other IMO).

Chinese food... REAL chinese food, not the American crap we are mostly served, is varied in an of itself. VASTLY varied. And all sooo tasty and different in flavor, texture and heat level.

To me there is no competition. Bland beans and shredded pork/chicken/beef atop a flour/corn tortilla with some veggies and a light variation of sauces versus a WIDE variety of seafood, exotic veggies, tubers, fruits, pork, chicken beef in varied styles with distinct different sauces with a variety of styles of rice.

Again, IMO, there is no competition. Asians know their food.

Asian, although the above poster hit the nail. Asia is a continent, with very vastly different cuisines by country.

You can't even begin to compare Thai to Japanese, for example.

New Mexican food for me.

If I still lived in NJ, then it would be Italian food. Living here, New Mexican food is the best.

I think you are being a little one-sided when comparing Asian to Mexican. You will find there is quite a lot of pedestrian Asian fare as well.
