California state of mind? No thanks. Assuming that means more sprawl, people, and a healthy serving of BS!

JoZone NM - I left CA for a few reasons and I'm never going back. Yes I miss the ocean that was an hour away, and I miss some of the shopping, but I wouldn't trade my life in NM for anything. I'm even getting used to the wind....well, maybe I'm fibbing just a little on that one
California State of mind - you can keep it there thank you.

AMEN!!!!!
In my opinion, the best thing to do when you move here from another state is to leave your California/New York/Midwest/New England/etc. "state of mind" behind and just come with an OPEN MIND.
I think most people who successfully move here are the ones who are ready to embrace the state of mind that they find here.

I tried to give you an honest answer for what I was talking about. I extended a metaphorical hand and I felt like you wanted to chop it off. If this is a New Mexican state of mind, you can keep it.
And to other detractors who do not have the patience to read, I did not suggest that Californians pack up their stuff and bring California here. That is exactly the obtuse form of thinking that I was happy to leave and am more than happy to ignore in the future.
Unfortunately, ignorance is rampant here and I know that. But there are also many people who want something more and give everyday to a spirit of comeraderie. Thank you to all who embrace an attitude of understanding and acceptance.

It's real hard to have a serious and friendly conversation with this kind of lecturing and condescension.
Perhaps you need to ask yourself why there is so much negativity here in New Mexico against Californians. I wondered about that when I moved here, but it becomes clearer and clearer.

Derebill, you are right about the skin cancer and dry skin. We went through so much lotion living there I almost went broke. lol. but the sun rises and sun sets make up for it...
As for alegies, I never had a one til moving to NM, but as bad as it was or is in late Feb to mid APril the rest of the time it is livable...
You have given a true view of ABQ.

Nita, thank you so much you have just given me hope that life WILL get back to normal in the next month or so. We lived in Alamogordo for 4 yrs left for Silver City, then on to Carlsbad, then back to Alamo and the last 2 yrs have been pure misery for me from the end of Jan until April, when we lived here before I knew had any allergy issues and know all of the sudden I do, so thanks for the light at the end of the tunnel.
