I agree with most everything you're saying EP. I can't really comment on the Denver area though, since I'm not as familiar with it.

As I said earlier in the thread, there are multiple definitions of suburb, exurb and satellite city, and depending on how you classify a place, people can get bent out of shape. Most people seem to prefer having their community labeled a suburb vs. an exurb. And "Satellite City" in my experience is taken as a compliment.
