For once having a wife who wakes up at the crack of dawn turned out to be a
good thing. She walked out to get the paper, took one look and (at great peril)
woke me up out of a sound sleep.
I threw on some clothes, grabbed the new PowerShot camera and staggered
outside to take a few snaps. Yes, they were as low as it looks... some were
about 50 feet over the houses. Good thing we have underground power lines..
I saw them too - I was at the dentist at 7 am (don't ask)... Could it be because of "The Rally"? The big Good Sam Club National Rally being held in ABQ this weekend? I know there are over 3000 rigs (5th wheels, trailers, etc) "camping" at Balloon Fiesta Park this weekend and the actually "Rally" is at Expo Center. Just a thought that maybe they put on a show for the GSC members....

Could be. This was obviously some sort of coordinated launch, not just a buncha
balloons in the air. I hadn't heard about the Good Sam rally but I'll bet that's it.
Nice photos! We moved here 2 days before the start of the fiesta and just did
not have the free time to see much last year. Really looking forward to this
year's event.
Given the loud wooshing noise the burners make that must have sounded like a Dragon convention.
