Default Job market in Albuquerque?

My wife and I need to move to somewhere a lot warmer than Minnesota! She is from Mexico and I am from of course Minnesota. I am tired of these winters!! They are brutal!! My wife also is tired of being locked in the house for 6 months because of the cold. I am fluent in Spanish so I am hoping that may help with a job. I am the bread winner, the wife stays home with our 2 kids. I have been to Albuquerque before and I absolutely loved the area!! I think Albuquerque is far enough away from the border so that you don't have all those issues from living on the border. Obviously we are in tough times for jobs right now but I was curious if anyone would have an idea on the job market there in Albuquerque? I would appreciate any replies Thank you very much for your time!!!

Totally depends on your field of work. Bilingual is a plus in some occupations, does not matter for others.

you are right, the field will play a major roll and yes, being bilingual is important only in certain jobs, but it never hurts and can help 75% of the time in places like ABQ.

Thank you for your replies!!!!! I actually work for Honeywell right now and have been here for almost 3 years. Before Honeywell sales was my background. I would probably look for something in sales because I love working with people. How is the sales industry fairing in Albuquerque? Thanks again for your replies!!

See if you can get a transfer... Husband has been job hunting for months now with no luck... He's mechanical/design engineer so can't really speak to the sales arena. I know Honeywell has had some job openings.

The market really depends on the field you are looking in. I gave up and went back to school... we'll see how long I can stay in before I have to go work at Wal-Mart. ;-)

Good luck, other than the job situation, we LOVE it here and hope we find something as we don't want to move!!

Nita, liked you post and would like to hear your, and that of others, opinion of the job opportunities for new Pharmacists. They are American citizens and speak Tagalog/Filipino.
