Did you see the person who took your phone(s)? Did they talk to you first and then take it from you in front of your face? That's what makes this thread special.

If you left it on a park bench or someone took it from you while your back was turned, yeah - that wouldn't be interesting.

4 times is a lot. Perhaps you should consider a chain.

We can't blame the officers on the street, they can only do so much.

Albuquerque voters were willing to pass bonds for UNM :

$139.9 Million- Higher Education and Special School Facilities

$4 million for the University of New Mexicos new Film & Digital Media Facility located at Mesa del Sol
$12 million for Central New Mexico Community Colleges Westside campus
$19.8 million for New Mexico State Universitys Arts Complex
$57.8 Million for Health-Related Facilities
$17 million for UNMs Cancer Research & Treatment Center
$7 million for UNMs Dental Residency Phase I
$10 million for New Mexicos Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas
$14.7 Million for Senior Citizen Facilities and Equipment
$1.6 Million for Barelas Senior Center
$ 899,600 for Taos Pueblo Senior Center
$600,000 for Mora/Wagon Mound Senior Center
$11 Million for Library Acquisitions
$3 million for public school libraries
$3 million for public libraries
$3 million for academic libraries
$2 million for tribal libraries

If we can afford to pay more taxes for something UNM to make profit on, surely we can increase our taxes to make our streets safer.
You're right! What's the point in electing gov't if they can't keep us safe??

Unfortunately nothing will be done because no-one cares enough to stand up and address this issue.

The caning incident occurred in Singapore. I'm well aware that the US Penal System is different from Indonesia. I was briefed at the embassy when we arrived & come from legal family. I got used to Indonesia's system which doesn't offer the same civil liberties & is quite draconian...but if you're smart & not on the wrong side of the law it usually isn't a problem. There are exceptions.

Our system is great...but tends to favor criminals more than the victims.
I agree criminals get away with quite a bit in the U.S.

Well... that's unacceptable! About a year ago my parents attended a fundraiser for Tom Udall in Anthony, NM & gave money to his campaign. I'm tempted to write the man a letter asking what, if anything is being done to ramp up a police presence in the city.

Well when there is no funding what are you going to do?
You cant expect the city to put all the funding on Police.

This city is booming. We have road projects and building projects going up all over this city. You cant blame the officals its not their fault, if you were in their shoes it wouldnt be any easier.

There are alot of projects I wish in this city got funded, believe me. I work for planning. It rough..

There's no excuse for being chinsy on ensuring the safety of a community. That is one of govt's primary functions. Look at Berncohome's post where the ABQ's voters passed bonds to fund UNM to the gills...which is good, I'm all for supporting public education, but if there aren't enuff police out patrolling the area??? I'm sure working for planning is rough.

However, if we can't blame the police & we can't blame our officials. How is one's safety assured in this community? Where's the accountability?
