I went to Eldorado as well. Went there in the late 80's and graduated in the early '90's.

When I think about it, I believe guns were more available back then than they are now. Hell, some schools even had shooting classes. After the movie 'Colors' came out, every moron wanted to be either a Crip or a Blood. Whatever. When I was a freshman, this one douchebag brought his revolver to school, showing it off in his IROC to my friend and I, pretending to be a hardcore metal head.

We thought he was an idiot.
I know a lot of schools in the 'country' have kids and families that have guns in their trucks and cars. Hell, they used to have debates on whether it violated federal law if a parent dropped off his kid on campus when driving up in his pickup with a gun rack loaded with guns. Personally, I think all campuses should be gun-free, with the exception of a few security guards or campus cops or even the principal and vice principal, who should be carrying and/or have guns in a safe somewhere. Wasn't that the way it was before?

I dunno.

And before any of you go off on me being an anti-gun pinko, I am a proud member of the NRA and have more guns than most of the militaries of Central America.
Guns are very powerful tools that need to be respected by all. Parents should do their job and educate kids on gun safety, target practice, and the importance of the 2nd Amendment. I learned how to shoot a .357 magnum when I was about 6 years old. Too bad parents don't do their jobs that well these days.
