If you are just looking for a private school with a good sports program then Pius would be a good choice.
But if you are looking for a a academic private school with aoutstanding swimming and golf teams, then Alb Academy is the first choice with Sandia Prep right behind.

As for APS schools - La Cueva and Sandia are the swim and golf schools to look at.
They have state titles and NCAA atletes galore.
La Cueva is the only APS high school to have made AYP more than one year, they have high scores on college entrance tests also. Sandia is an engaged school with high scores also.(they also have a pool)

The newest schools to open in APS are Atrisco Heritage and Volcano Vista -
Atrisco will be long in getting a sports program going( the 2 schools it is pulling from can barely field Varsity teams).
Volcano Vista is very sporty(but the teams are not very good unless you want G-Soccer, Wrestling and Softball) Academically it is not getting good reviews.

Go to the NM Activities Association website and check out the sports rankings.

any idea of costs at BA?
According to a friend of mine who's child goes to Bosque, it's around 13K - 15K per year.

Exclamation Guns at School

And I know thats not the story the few friends I know that went to Valley and West Meas.
I went to Eldorado as well. Went there in the late 80's and graduated in the early '90's. When I think about it, I believe guns were more available back then than they are now. Hell, some schools even had shooting classes. After the movie 'Colors' came out, every moron wanted to be either a Crip or a Blood. Whatever. When I was a freshman, this one douchebag brought his revolver to school, showing it off in his IROC to my friend and I, pretending to be a hardcore metal head. We thought he was an idiot.

I know a lot of schools in the 'country' have kids and families that have guns in their trucks and cars. Hell, they used to have debates on whether it violated federal law if a parent dropped off his kid on campus when driving up in his pickup with a gun rack loaded with guns. Personally, I think all campuses should be gun-free, with the exception of a few security guards or campus cops or even the principal and vice principal, who should be carrying and/or have guns in a safe somewhere. Wasn't that the way it was before? I dunno.

And before any of you go off on me being an anti-gun pinko, I am a proud member of the NRA and have more guns than most of the militaries of Central America.

Guns are very powerful tools that need to be respected by all. Parents should do their job and educate kids on gun safety, target practice, and the importance of the 2nd Amendment. I learned how to shoot a .357 magnum when I was about 6 years old. Too bad parents don't do their jobs that well these days.

Pius is way better than Bosque.. Bosque just looks like one of those "regular" schools..

When you visit Pius.. your like "Woooow" at first sight.

Default Tossing another name in the hat...

Look into Menaul School...they seemed to do a 'decent' job with someone like me--A kid in the valley who could have went in so many different directions.

Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.
