Take it from someone from Albuquerque who now lives in the Midwest (Chicago) - the winters in ABQ are mild.

Can you post that all again with numbers on it? You know; #1 thru #41?
That way we can reference the item.

Just kidding.

Note how I quoted your text, but thoughtfully edited out 1,000 or so lines of text that were not necessary to repeat here.

I was really amazed to see that in the first 11 responses to your post, no one was rude/idiot enough to QUOTE the entire friggin' thing.

ObOnTopic:

#42 - going into a restaurant and having the waiter/waitress/order taker (ObFrontier) ask you:
........ "red or green?"

Question: Why don't they ever ask you "green or red?" in that order?

EEP: I'm assuming that I can insert that #42 there and you can just keep adding #43, etc.

It is all relavent and what you think of as nice. To many Phoenix is boring in the winter. I would say ABQ has the closest to perfect weather anywhere and I have lived a lot of places. Now if 4 seasons aren't important to you, that is a different story.

I would take 10 days a year only in the 30s to 100 days a year over 110.

Thanks Burquebinder! Good to hear that you were a Badger!

Yep, you are right about Milwaukee being an underrated US city. That is the thing that makes my situation somewhat unique...it isn't as though I *hate* or *deplore* where I am, far from it (although the weather for much of the year I really do hate / deplore).

I think as I am laying out a list on paper such as this (which will be used later as a way to better explain to folks such as relatives just why we passionately hope to head southwest again), I am further and further realizing that is isn't so much what I *dislike* or don't enjoy about up here, moreover, it truly is just how I (and my wife as well) love ABQ.

Phoenix winters may be nice, but the summers are absolute HELL, and this is from someone who grew up in hot West Texas.

I'm sure Las Vegas, NV weather suits you perfectly, though....LOL!! It too, is hot as hell in the summer.

EP, great post. Hurry back, OK?

Tell you what man, if I get that Chamber job, we'll also have to get you on board as a Chamber photographer, as I have always been a big fan.

Yep, I bet. I watched the game from up here on satellite and it was great.

I could kind of imagine, though, as one of the great ballgames of my life was attending the Lobos' home game against - yep, Utah - the best year under Ritchie McKay (when Danny Granger was tearing it up) when the Utes were undefeated late in the season in the MWC and the Lobos were nipping at their heels in 2nd.

Thrilling game (Utah had Andrew Bogut and we had Granger), sold out roaring huge crowd, such an important game for the Lobos.

Late in the game, the Lobos were kind of pulling away, going on a big run, the crowd was going nuts sensing victory being close...Lobos cause Utah (I believe Bogut himself from the Utes) to turn the ball over, fast break Lobos...super-high-flyer/slammer Alfred Neale gets out in the open court....ball is lobbed forward to him running in the open court...he grabs it, flies high and slams the ball down - HARD! "Time outtttttttt, Utahhhh!!!!"....the crowd was just in pandemonium, and, in Ritchie's finest hour in ABQ, he runs the length of the court, stops in front of the student section, leaps jubilantly and does a few fist pumps!! It was great.

Ahhhh...good times in the Pit, good times...

Yep, its almost better, because its just as nice as an MLB Stadium (on a smaller scale of course), but because it *is* so much smaller, fans can get such a much closer, more "close to the game" seat and view for a reasonable price than fans typically could at an MLB park.

Wow, your description of that almost has me totally fired up even from afar!! Yeah, I really wish I could've been there to have seen that. I still get automated ticket emails from the Isotopes, and they were hyping up Man-Ram's appearance big time.

I had a similar experience weatherman!!

Shortly after FINALLY getting to move to ABQ, I had to be up in Denver for a week-long training session. On the day I was scheduled to leave leave Denver and drive back to Albuquerque (again, I hadn't gotten to spend almost any time in ABQ yet due to having to drive straight north for my new job), a MASSIVE blizzard hit Colorado. Huge! There were 13 inches of snow already on the ground by the time I left Denver (I never would've driven in it, but I was DYING to get to ABQ).

All the way down I-25...through the Springs, Pueblo, down through Trinidad, etc., the highway conditions / blizzard conditions I drove in were the absolute worst - by far - I have ever driven in. In fact, to this day, my wife would've had a heart attack if she'd have seen the conditions I was willingly driving in. In fact, I recognize now how foolish and dangerous it really is that I even ventured out in that stuff to willingly drive...the visibility was unbelievably awful.

Of course, I was thusly terrified to venture over the Raton Pass in an amazing blizzard (they actually had had it closed for many hours until shortly before I arrived). Literally...LITERALLY!...the minute I got on the Pass, the snow started to greatly break up to flurries. And...I kid you not...the second I hit the divider and - just like you - saw that glorious, beautiful "New Mexico - Bienvenidos!" sign with the zia, etc., the snow not only completely was gone, but the sun started to shine brilliantly overhead!

By the time I got down I-25 to Albuquerque, it was a bright, sunny 62 degree afternoon, and all was right with the world.

(Of course, I did that night what any self respecting human could do in that situation - I scarfed down a massive plate of sopapillas with honey).

Yeah, and hey, that is absolutely your preference, but with respect, I bet you've not lived anywhere other than extremely warm desert cities like Phoenix and/or Vegas.

Albuquerque's average daytime high in the winter is 50 degrees, which, for much / most of the nation is EXTREMELY mild. The low average in the winter is in the 20s.

It is true that often there will be a handful of days that stay in the 30s for highs, but those are pretty rare.

Here in Milwaukee, you literally can go for several MONTHS with the temperature very rarely even ever getting above freezing (32 degrees)!
