I had the chance to attend this for the first time - what a mess.
The only thing I can figure is that they were not expecting such a big turnout of people.
The salsas were good (the ones I could get to).
The wine tasting was fun according to my wife. Again, huge lines with hour long waits. I gave up trying to get in and ended up people watching and music listening.

Terrible organization of the event. Why on earth would you have a salsa tasting event and then funnel foot traffic to the booths from 4 different directions?

I still had a good time though.

I have not made the Salsa Fiesta yet. I like Old Town and go there often, but sometimes it gets crowded with some of the events. Parking can be difficult at times, but I think of crowds and parking in larger cities and it reminds me. Old Town is still neat.

Did anybody else make it?

I went twice. We left the first time around 2, as had a very antsy little guy with us. Then, last night, my daughter and I went back.

I didn't think the crowds were bad. My biggest complaint (and its not just in ABQ) is why do people think they need to bring their dogs? I am a dog lover, but my dog stays home in the nice, cool house.
I did not see any of these dogs tasting wine or salsa.

I attended it this year
salsa was crappy and crowd control was poor at best
wouldn't recommend attending next years unless they do something about
designing a one-way single line and keep people moving.
as it was, too many people were going the wrong direction, cutting in line, and just being obnoxious. I couldn't even get in to the wine tasting. Lines were to long, and by the time we got up to the booths, most of the tasting booths were out of wine.
real bummer and total waste of money!
