Im still considering suburbs of the Phoenix area, I just don't know how well I would like dealing with CRAZY amounts of traffic everyday. Coming from a smaller town and not worrying about traffic is one up side.
I don't "hate" ABQ, I just don't think it's a fun place to live if you're in your early 20's.

Im sure you just havent lived where not much goes on. The area I live in isn't dead, but its not very exciting. Only thing is I don't like Mexican food that much and that is HUGE in Albuquerque. And the few things I do like HAVE to come with red or green chilis.

Like what? Just curious as usually you can get most things chile-free...

Enchiladas can be difficult but if you go to a real Mexican place, you can find them.

Here's one:

Untitled Document

Red sauce ( NOT red chile ) and ranchera sauce on enchiladas...also a green sauce that I believe is tomatillo based.

There are a couple of other Mexican Mexican places around that will offer similar things....of course, once you've been here a while, the red and green chile might grow on you.....

For a city of its size, I am amazed by the variety and quality of restaurants...Asian, BBQ, French, Italian..all price ranges....

There's a local guy who blogs about restaurants....

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the food here.

Are there any jazz clubs? Being a professional musician, I'm interested in the live music. What kinds of music can you hear there?

Life is an improvisation, a mixed tape, an unfinished work-- and no one knows that better than the five professional musicians NMJW has lined up for New Mexico Jazz Stories. They've played everywhere, from juke joints to concert halls, for sophisticated, international audiences, to salty bar flies in dives. Not only have Glenn Kostur, Larry Mitchell, Tommy Gearhart, Michael Anthony and Bobby Shew collected frequent flyer miles, they've collected stories throughout their colorful journeys, and they plan to share them with the New Mexico Jazz Stories audience for the first time.

First up:

For three years Glenn was saxophonist, composer/arranger, and musical director for jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson with whom he appeared on three recordings: "Big Bop Nouveau", "Footpath Cafe", and "Live From London". Glenn has worked with jazz artists such as the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Louie Bellson Band, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstine, Al Hirt, Joe Williams, Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew, Bob Mintzer, Slide Hampton and James Moody; and popular performers including Tony Bennett, Linda Ronstadt, Donna Summer, Olivia Newton-John, Johnny Mathis, Diahann Carroll, Rosemary Clooney, Joel Gray, Harry Connick, Sr., Wayne Newton, Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gormé, and The Temptations.

Glenn co-founded the contemporary saxophone quartet, Thrascher. Growing up in Oregon, Glenn comes from a musical family, having started on piano at age three, and picking up the saxophone at age six.
