Any other neat locations? turns out my friend is here till friday. The view to the west matters more, so we can capture the beautfil pink and orange sunsets i love so much about NM (and im sure she will love too!)

Any areas with neat rock formations, stream beds, etc. is preferred (i.e not just flat mesa for as far as the eye can see)

Anyplace in the foothills will offer that for you.

Go to the Juan Tabo Picnic area. The sunset will be visible between
the canyon walls. If the rock formations don't get you high, then
you're just a whack-job.

You can wander up the trail as you like for different angles on the
horizon and rock formations.(*)

Also, bring a FLASHLIGHT.(**) It's easy to find yourself too
far up the trail enjoying the ( fading ) light and not be able to see
to get back.

After you are done, you can enjoy a dinner at the County Line
restaurant at the turn off to the Tram from Tramway blvd.
Alternatively, you can go to Santiagos at the base of the Tram.

You might want to go up to the top via the Tram in the afternoon
to avoid traffic, but be at the bottom for sunset. It's good at the
top, but great at the Juan Tabo Picnic Area.

(*) Bring water. (***)
(**) bring two flashlights!!
(***) Bring more water than you think you'll need!!

From Coors and Paseo del Norte, head west on Paseo del Norte, past Golf Course. The road will veer north. Eventually you will come to Universe Blvd.
Pass Universe still heading west on Paseo del Norte and go to the 1st 4-way stop which is Rainbow Blvd. Turn left on Rainbow.
Pass the next 4 way stop. You'll then see Volcano Vista High School on your left and Tony Hillerman Middle school on your right. Just pass the middle school you'll turn right on a road. There's a sign there that says APS Soccer Complex. Head west on that road and pass the soccer fields. Then just pull over and park. Walk around on the mesa where the volcanos are in the background. You should get some beautiful sunset shots of the volcanos.
