We do not live in Rio Rancho but I've gotten really frustrated with the handful
of RR bashers who inject themselves and their scorn in almost every RR related
thread.
Those couple sentences you just posted go a long way toward offsetting their
remarks. Close to 80,000 people live in Rio Rancho so it obviously offers a lot
of people what they need and want.

get tired of it all you want, but you need to learn how to accept other peoples views, you cant only accept a post when it says something you wanna hear.
I lived in RR too for a year, but I didnt like living in cookie-cutter land and I felt like I wasnt even in NM anymore, I was in Wal-Mart last night in RR and I looked around at how much different the people are there than in anywhere else in NM, you could be in anytown USA(suburb) if you didnt know better.
Im not saying its a bad place, its different and thats cool, I would just rather be in ABQ, and he was right, RR is not a hotbed of culture or fun, its a family type city.

Whoa there!! That's a load of crap.
There area couple people on this board that constantly belittle RR dwellers for
their "mistakes" and "lack of judgment" in moving to RR and there is every reason
to be fed up with their endless prattling and to call it out for what it is.
If I personally was so enamored of RR, I'd live there but I am not and I don't. But
I'm fed up with the juvenile dumping from a couple of people every time the subject comes up.
Claro?

I didnt find anything in that persons post that was bashing RR, he posted both positive and negative things and from what I read was probably the most honest post about the city.

I agree with much of what has been said about RR. One thing that should be clarified for those who may be considering moving here is that RR is not all tract SFR's. There are plenty of really nice custom home subdivisions/neighborhoods ranging from average to excellent quality. You can build a good quality custom SFR in RR cheaper ($90 per SF) than what you would pay for some of these new average quality tract SFR's. This is based on experience.

I have always used this board to post my opinions about New Mexico, both what I consider good and bad -- not from anyone else's viewpoint but MY OWN. I thought that is what we all did here.
If I am considered one of the RR "bashers" than I apologize for posting my own personal viewpoint and for offending anyone.
Everyone can breathe a big sigh of relief, for this is one City-Data poster who will never have another comment to make on any Rio Rancho thread again.
I didn't know people here needed only to hear positive things.

Towanda,
I don't think it was directed at you. In fact, I am pretty sure it wasn't.
Sure there is no history in RR. Its not old enough to have history. But it does have the right to be here, just like all the other cities and towns in NM.
However, I see many cookie cutter homes in ABQ, but they are acceptable because of the fact they are in ABQ. Hmmmmmm. Double standard.
That is ok, if people don't like RR, they don't have to. No room for them here anyway.
I have found the RR police to be very nice and helpful. We hit a dog one time and they could not thank us enough for calling. They said too many people never bother to call. I would suggest you not go to Corrales, if you think RR police are tough. LOL

Actually I keep meaning to stop and read them, aren't there a couple of those bronze historical markers in RR? That would lead me to believe there is history there...

I found nothing offensive about your post (or any of the others, for that matter) at all. You simply stated a personal opinion/preference.
I know that there are those on this board who get offended if anyone has an opinion that differs from their own, but that's just life!
