Weed???
So I was talking to a few people around my age (18-20) about Albuquerque and they all said I hope you like to smoke weed because that all anyone does here..Even everyone's parents. Is this true? I don't have any intentions of smoking weed or want to be around it.

I guess I'd qualify as someone from the "everyone's parents" age group ( mid 40's ) and neither my husband or I smoke pot or do any other drugs, and as far as I am aware, none of our friends do either. I've never been to a party or gathering either where anything even remotely obvious was going on.
Best advice is make friends with people who have common interests ( not including drug use ) and you won't find yourself surrounded by those people.

You can get it
or you can stay away from it. That'll be your choice.
I lived in Alb for 20 years and grew up there. I never got into it. I knew plenty of people who did. There are definitely a lot of people that do it. There's also a lot that don't

re.weed
the last two posters made a exellent point that i left out,its who you choose to hang around,if you want it its going to be there no matter where you are,if you dont, just choose your friends wisely.i know its easier said than done but just make it clear you dont approve of that kind of behavior, and if there is something going on just leave

A second, very large, head shop recently opened up just a couple blocks away from another one, in downtown Albuquerque.

Acid head, pot head, etc. >> abbreviated at some point to "head." Or that's what I would guess.

You're being misinformed..
One issue is illegal marijuana. Head shops do not sell that, they sell all of the accessories used with it...pipes, papers, bongs, etc. Because those items can also be used legally for tobacco use, they can be sold legally here.
The second issue would be medical marijuana, and dispensaries which can sell it to those with a prescription.
