I am sorry, but this girl doesn't deserve to be suspended indefinitely. She deserves a suspension, but not to be persecuted. People get in fights all the time in all levels of sports, but this particular girl got national coverage, and as a result was suspended. She punched a girl in the back...after she got elbowed. She wasn't the only one at fault, she was the one who acted worse. She wasn't even thrown out of the game for goodness sakes.

I agree 100%. The other girl instigated it. Nothing was done to her for ramming her elbow into Elizabeth's stomach. I would have done the same thing that Elizabeth did. Turnabout is fair play.

I saw the replay of the whole game. Those clips are taken out of context and don't show the whole story. BYU is a dirty team and instigated a lot.
However, Lambert's reactions were over the line. She deserved to be suspended, but she should be allowed back next year. This isn't the kind of thing to ruin a 20 year old's life about. ESPN has become the TMZ of sports.

I think she deserves to be suspended. With regards to length, if she gets permanently suspended from athletics, oh well. Everyone is responsible for their actions. And some actions will bring about harsher consequences than others. That's life. She acted like an idiot.
She'll be fortunate if that girl she gave a 1-2 punch to, and the girl who got her hair pulled, don't press charges against her. Or try to.

Why would you want to suspend or expel someone from college for what happens on a soccer pitch? Why would you ban her permanently from athletics for her actions?
People are seriously over re-acting to this. Seriously what appalls you most? That she is female? That she represents UNM? Or that there is physical malicious contact in sports?
It's a competition, people are playing to win and as it has been pointed out before, BYU didn't play clean either.
I'm curious to know if you were up in arms as much when the UNM QB was arrested for drunk driving.

That was totally inexcusable. There is physical play within the rules, but that was appalling. I don't even think she's all that.

If I were UNM I would fire Locksley and shake the hand of Elizabeth Lambert, she made me happy and me and the guys at work had a good laugh. I hate BYU btw.
In my earlier post I was just trying to make a point, I guess no one got it, but what Im saying is , if Locksley can do those things and only get a 10 game suspension, then thats all the girl should get, she shouldnt be banned.

BYU weren't angels in that game, official report shows 12 fouls committed by them. We are just judging on what ESPN has decided to show.
I also think the yellow card was harsh, her leg was out before the BYU player made her last touch and in my opinion she took advantage and dived.
If it weren't for the media attention then I don't think she would have been suspended.

looking back on it, my tone wasn't what it was intended to be (or thought it sounded like in my head). I was agreeing with you by answering your question. It was more of a "your right" kinda statement. Sorrry for the confusion.

Soccer, then transfered to Clemson.
I could have never made that team..big difference in the level of competition. At the time Clemson was pretty good.
It so sad to go to a lobo game and see the football team lose so bad.. it really sucks. They should have just never got him as the coach. What a big joke. But welcome back to New Mexico.
