Another Lobo Black Eye
I am sure that most of you are aware of the current situation with the Football Coach at UNM, Mike Locksley. Well, now we have another one, this time a student athlete.
BYU Fights Off New Mexico, 1-0 - ESPN Video - ESPN
I must be getting old, but what ever happened to the concept of sportsmanship and fair play? Incidents like this give the University and the State a bad name.
What do you believe should be the response for something like this?
Just as I believe that Locksley should have been fired, I think this girl should lose her final year of eligibility.

The whole concept of college level sports needs a complete rethink.

Kind of looks like Hines Ward out there. Probably going to have to start over with a new AD at UNM.

Is it really a "firing" if the coach continues to receive his salary
for a number of years afterward?
... like the basketball coach before Steve Alford ?
... like the last football coach who "resigned?"

We just need to fire the AD of UNM.
One with the "larger" university experience is needed.
Look at what is happening to the athletics at UNM... are we going anywhere? No.

eh, sports can get heated sometimes. This was an emotional game, the girl from BYU talked ish, and Elizabeth Lambert responded poorly. However, these things happen. No one is that offended when a batter charges the mound. No one is that offended when occasionally a couple of football players get in a fight. It wasn't sportsmanlike, but it wasn't exactly that terrible. She should have gotten a red card (me thinks...my soccer knowledge is pretty low), but in athletics these things can happen.

Don't disagree at all about the red card. I also understand that things get heated during the competition. Still doesn't excuse her. And I can almost guarantee that when someone finally calls her or the University on it they will have something completely inane to say.
They will trot out some useless excuse or mea culpa that won't be worth the air that is used to form the words. Some kid somewhere will see it and that there are no repercussions and believe that this is acceptable behavior.
But then again, everything is ALWAYS someone else's fault in today's day and age.

She'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
She's famous now and she's "hot" to boot.
Watch, she'll be driving a Ferarri around campus pretty soon.
She might go the way of Tonya Harding, but for a while, ...
