Berry to the rescue!

Berry’s Plan includes:
  • Seeking federal prosecution for property crimes involving firearms. Sounds good.
  • Fingerprinting everyone who is arrested no matter how small the crime. Heck yeah!
  • Dispatching CSIs to every burglary. Depends, regular cops can't dust for prints or perform basic crime scene duties?
  • Offering cash incentives for people who turn in property crime offenders. Sounds good.
  • Tracking property crime offenders who are out on probation. Isn't everybody on probation being tracked?
  • Developing a system that allows pawn shops to track stolen property. Sure.
  • Sending out mass emails to the community. Sounds good.
  • “Tweeting” every car that is stolen. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROPOSALS!
  • Creating a public database that can be accessed through smart phones providing information on stolen vehicles. Loving it!
  • Pursuing a meaningful Three Strikes Law. Is there something magical about the number three?
  • Creating a night detective squad to respond to property crimes in the evening hours. Sure.
  • Advertising wanted property crime offenders on billboards and in the newspaper. Eh... couldn't that be sent out in the emails/tweets?
Hard to believe that we weren't finger printing every person being shuffled through the police department.

Hard to believe that we weren't finger printing every person being shuffled through the police department. (Yeah this is a head scratcher).

I get the baseball reference, but it seems arbitrary.

It's another dull day @ work & I just scammed through the entire NM/ABA sex offender registry. I just and hopefull will never understand why a person has to look at a child for the s@xual needs. Go get a blow up if you are in that much need. I think between NY/CA/FL, those 3 states alone probably have enough offenders to make a link around the world once.

I like all of that except for 'three-strikes'. Arbitrary penal guidelines smack of totalitarianism and police-states.

Actually, they've already done one insert. It, along with the photos of the lovely DWI offenders, is something I look forward to.

Yeah, but if we're talking about saving the city some $... we could stop supporting that rag... er... The Journal.

And the billboards are free? If so, isn't that an illegal donation? Etc, etc, etc...

Perhaps more press releases from the Albuquerque Police Department or appropriate agency.

Pretty sure Clear Channel will be charging the city the highest price possible... something we should strive to avoid.
