Don't be such a Winerrrrrrrr I visited Alberqurque for 5 day's and LOVED IT... No traffic, great weather, great sunsets, Sking in winter, Rio Ranch... great growth.. what's wrong with you?
I gotta agree with Dedo, Los Angeles area has horrible traffic, gangs that would probably make the gangs there look like girl scouts. The salaries here a higher but the cost of living and home prices just don't make up the difference. LA is so overated, so we have great weather, but the influx of illegals here is destroying the school system and hospitals are closing left and right. I know that there are probably alot of illegals in ABQ as well, but I'm sure it is not to the same extent. Any just putting in my 2 cents. LOL

I have lived many places but I think this one takes the cake as being the worst - I think between the horrible drivers and the crime I would like to go back to chicago . I consider myself a pretty open minded person and I know every city has good and bad, but sadly I think the people here are some of the rudest people I have ever met and it dosen't matter where you go . The crime is just sad I wouldn't raise a family here for all the money in the world , I live on the nw side ,in what is supposed to be a very nice area - I wouldn't walk down the street with my dog if you paid me - If I didn't get mugged or harassed by a gang members I would probably get run over by on of the horrible or more often drunk drivers !I can't wait to say good-bye to this black hole!

I feel a similiar way. Albuquerque is the largest city on the high deserts of the American southwest. I think the skyline is kinda cute, and I like the fiery-orange colored pyramids a top the city's tallest buildings. I like the high desert suburbs, especially Rio Rancho, with the rocks & yucca landscaping, and a view of the moody Sandia Mountains across the valley. I'm not especially drawn to Albuquerque, but I can appreciate it for what it is. It is kind of nice how it is like a "small, compact Phoenix", a financial center, yet only an hour away is the artsy, charming, world-famous town of Santa Fe. Along with Santa Fe, vast expanses of high desert scenery, dotted and speckled with junipers, and even piney mountainous wildernesses, are not too far away.

I lived in Albuq. my whole life but I admit, we did recently move to NC for a better job opportunity. My hubby makes significantly more in his field here. Much more room for advancement as well.
While in Albuq. my 16 years old son's stereo was stolen out of his vehicle in Taylor Ranch ( nice neighborhood). Couple years later, my vehicle was stolen right outta our driveway. That was all the crime we experienced first hand but it was enough.
The school system was atrocious. My kids went to private schools. All that said, I really dont think Albuq is any worse off than cities of comprable size. Turn on the news here and you hear about many more murders. We live well outside of the city for just that reason.
However, I miss home, our families, etc. The city itself is beautiful, in my opinion. You should see the litter HERE! The people are friendly, I think. There is drunk driving here too, gangs and drugs here too. Albuq. has not cornered the market on that Im afraid.

Nice catch Observe...I remember her saying she was from Ohio. Ha, people can flame all they want...it doesn't bother me because I am tired of the influx of ignorant slobs who don't know the difference between Texas Chilli and New Mexico chile, and they don't ever care to learn. I love when people think they are the experts after living here for like 3 months. its funny how that works... I welcome anybody to Albuquerque who has an open mindeset, one who will absorb the culture not try to change it to everyday suburbia.

I'm not quite sure she knows where she's from - or where she wants to be, for that matter.

I actually live in Chicago right now and I can tell you that the crime here is much worse than it is in Albuquerque. Furthermore, I've been to Ohio many times, on business trips and it doesn't seem any better than Albuquerque in my perspective. Did she ever watch the news in Ohio, or Chicago, or Whiner-ville, or wherever she's from.

This posting is influenced by delusional paranoia!

If you feel this way - you would be better off moving away - the sooner the better.

We've read in many other threads that your moving away. I for one wish you would do it already!!

...and I don't even live in Albuquerque.
