I do have to agree with mid-western sweetie on one thing - traffic and drivers overall seem to be worse over on the far NW side, around Coors/Paseo and farther west/north. Shoppers in the stores don't seem quite as friendly there either, although I wouldn't say they were bad or rude - just more rushed, it seems. But that's just one tiny spot of the city, not the whole place.

What kind of response did you think you would get from New Mexicans after you posted this?

The crime is just sad I wouldn't raise a family here for all the money in the world , I live on the nw side ,in what is supposed to be a very nice area - I wouldn't walk down the street with my dog if you paid me - If I didn't get mugged or harassed by a gang members I would probably get run over by on of the horrible or more often drunk drivers !I can't wait to say good-bye to this black hole!

midwestern sweetie:

...actually - what kind of response did you think you'd get from most people from anywhere after posting something so negative and biting toward the place that they really care about.

Your posting was really not-so-sweet - sweetie.

Yeah, Convict, she can go to the city of Chicago, a city surely with such little "crime" and "bad drivers" that she finds so prevalent in ABQ; yeah, the city of Chicago has no crime anywhere and surely, you can't find a bad driver in the Windy City.

LOL!!!! I live in Chicago now, and I gotta ask - did she live here when they founded the city?

Because that's the only time I can think of Chicago without crime. That was the time before prohibition, gangster crime, Al Capone, race riots, police corruption, etc., etc., etc....

Yeah casden, I live 80 miles north of you right now in the Milwaukee area, and there are portions of Milwaukee - and moreso in Chicago (due to Chicago's massive size) - that I wouldn't want to drive through even during the day time.

Hey casden, when are YOU moving here? You sound like you'd fit right in. My car died last weekend, so I've been exploring ABQ by bus, and it's been fun. Even the grungy, moody, tatooed, multipierced teenagers are friendly around here. Of course, it helps when you smile first and don't give them a chance to do otherwise

I have been reading this thread and it makes me a little nervous. Me and my roommates were going to move to Austin but now thinking more about ABQ, but i only read a few good things. And I know the city is gorgeous but is the crime rate really that bad? It would be nice to hear from natives
