I have Comcast. We pay for Blast internet. It's fast, but not the fastest service they offer (I think contractually, it's supposed to be 50mbps download). I just got 54/12 testing the internet speed.

After 14+ years with CenturyLink, which was Quest and before that US West, we unplugged CenturyLink today. We went with CableOne telephone...

We have had the "Standard Phone" $25.00 for life for about 7 weeks now. https://www.cableone.net/residential/phone

The wife is happy...

Some minor issues.

1. Our original underground cable needed to be replaced, they just laid it on the ground till the team could come out at a later date. The new cable increased my modem speed "Looks like my speed doubled. Looks like my wife's tripled.".

2. A team came out to mark the ground, left flags in the yard, painted spots to mark water, sewer, telephone. Not an issue. Team came out later, to dig and install cable. Not an issue. Just noting as some people fret over technical stuff...

3. We could not keep our original phone number for unknown technical issues.

4. We require a separate cable modem ARRIS TM862 for the phone. We went with renting ($7 or $8 per month), rather than buying (It's not a cheap modem $160). The main phone had to be moved to her office (better off actually) We have wireless phones around the house.

5. There was a billing issue, it was quickly corrected.

6. So our total Phone bill is now $33.00 per month with CableOne with more features (see URL above for description) than CenturyLink which was $56.00+.

7. You talk to a local human with CableOne. You get real answers with CableOne.

8. Wife is happy.

To folks new to the metro area- CableOne stops at the Rio Rancho border, where Comcast stops at the Albuquerque border.

Your mileage with Comcast in terms of customer service, promptness, and pricing may be way different (mine certainly has been).

So if I move to RR I don't have to use Comcast? That almost makes it worthwhile.

I have to take back some of my criticism of CentruryLink, I changed to the wifi modem and it made a HUGE difference. Even if I have all 4 computers surfing the net at the same time, there's no noticeable slowdown. Much happier camper here.
