Hello Treeroo!

Have you looked at the gated community of La Ventana- off of Academy and Tramway? It's real quiet, peaceful and great location for hiking and biking...

You can DM me!

Skyszlimit...

I agree that La Ventana is nice. Mesa del Oso condos are in a very safe area. They are OLD however and when I lived there (moved in 2004) had not been updated. Check out the Pavillion apartments on Academy in the far NE Heights. They are very nice and come with garages. Good luck to you.

However about avoiding the whole "complex" thing entirely and renting a stand alone house or townhouse? Or a complex where units are separately owned. I think that helps to curtail some of the dirtbag element when all units are rentals. Just a suggestion.

While the original post was over 18 months ago, people regularly search this forum for information. I see no problem with people updating and responding.

Things change in 18 months. Apartments that were great in 2007 could be at the bottom, now.

Of course, should I move myself and my family there, I will look for a house to rent. But, knowing where the good and the bad apartments are also helps when looking for a house. If an apartment complex in a particular area has a bad rep, more than likely the single family housing in that area will be bad, too.

I really prefer that people do respond to relevant older posts that rather
than clog up the archives with redundant "where should I live" posts.

Stuff about a complex in 2006 are probably 95% accurate today.
There area lots of things the people thoughtfully posted way back
then that might be forgotten in some new "tell me everything" post.

All of these threads are for everybody and not just for the original poster.
Some posters like to think that "it's all about them," but they're a bunch
of hosers and need to be humiliated and ridiculed.

Default I live in Las Kivas

Riverstone properties manages this now, it's very nice. It's also the ONLY complex within the eisenhower school district that has 1669 sq ft apartments! (3 bed/2 bath with HUGE loft, also 2 car garage right under apt). Small pool, hot tub, and FITNESS ROOM! Club house seats 12-14 so not huge but just right for intimate gathering/party. Dog/Cat friendly. Gated community, need code or clicker to get in. Rent is $1400/mo for 3 bedrm, so that keeps out alot of lower income people.

Visited several times, been here under a month, have two co workers moving in next week. So far so good! Love the attitude of the front office staff, they are very professional and also extremely pleasant ladies.

One family had a birthday party at the pool all day yesterday with about 20 guests. It was so nice to see a family event here!

This place has definitely improved since 2007, since Riverstone took over the management.

I used to live in the general area of Las Kivas. I think it's pretty safe - maybe some petty theft here and there. I never had any bad experiences, personally. But apartments are apartments, and ABQ has a million terrible landlords and property management companies. Quality seems to be hit-or-miss, no matter how "nice" the complex seems to be.
