Default Water supply in Rio Rancho

Can anyone explain to me the water situation in Rio Rancho? I know there are sever droughts there sometimes. I live in ABQ as a child and my mom says Rio Rancho had water troubles but can't remember why. Is this still true? Thanks in advance!

Default arsenic

Most of the wells on the west side exceed the new federal levels for arsenic. The city's new San Juan Water Project will supply surface water taken from the Rio Grande in order to dilute the high-arsenic wells and supplement the aquifer water that the city currently uses.

People living on the E. side are getting hosed in order to keep the W. side developers happy, is what it comes down to. There is no reason why we should be piping that crappy river water to the E. side, let alone our good, tasty E. side aquifer water to the W.

Now is probably a good time to start up a water filter business, its gonna get nasty here pretty soon.
