I have no direct experience, but I have friends that were happy with service Steamatic provided. One of my best friends also used to work for them many years back, and always spoke highly of the local owners.
Anybody have a company they can recommend for air duct cleaning? I've never used one before.
Thanks in advance.
I don't know if it is true, but I have read a couple of articles that have said, there is absolutely no reason to have them cleaned..so we don't anymore.
Although it was years ago, I used Stanley Steamer. It was a very satisfactory experience. A young man from the mid heights had a franchise; he was courteous and the rate was reasonable. I think they have special offers pretty much all the time.
They were beginning the air duct cleaning service out and did our house for free. I watched them do most of our ducts which seemed pretty clean (I have removed the grates in the past while painting and peeked in the ducts with some mirrors, they were basically clean in the 1990 built home). I have always been a bit suspect of the services, you might read this article: Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned? | Indoor Air | US EPA
Called them up to get an estimate, they came out, we agreed, they came out the next day and it was installed and working that same day. We went with a new furnace in addition to the A/C.
Duct-cleaning services typically promise to rid your heating system of dust, bacteria, or other harmful contaminants. Yet there's little evidence such cleaning is needed, except perhaps as part of an allergy-control program prescribed by a doctor.
If you do get the service, insist on a thorough job; in a pilot project, the Environmental Protection Agency found it took 16 to 30 worker-hours to clean the ducts of a typical home. If the company you hired didn’t spend that much time, it’s likely they were not thorough.
