My 26 year old daughter goes out all the time to the clubs and she is usually the driver. She says this way she stays thin by drinking diet soda and the group usually springs for her sodas and food. She gets them all home safely.
DK does not drink - allergic to beer - so he usually drinks cokes. Not a problem, but he usually doesn't go to bars because he is also allergic to 2nd hand smoke.
But he is usually the designated driver.
For non-alcoholic beer I recommend sharps and Klausthaler. And if you want something that looks like a drink but isn't - get ginger ale. Or order virgin margaritas or daiquiris.
I don't drink. Then again, I don't really go out! When I do and I don't really feel like having anything, I might order a shirly temple. It's really sweet! If you are at a restaurant, you can pretty much order any of the "foo-foo" drinks virgin.
I don't drink and drive...so anytime I drive myself alone to a bar or club or am D.D. for a group I don't drink.
I usually just grab one of those cute VOSS waters. I love the shape of them and use it as my microphone when I dance around.
I never drive, if I'm drinking. If I don't have a date then my roommate drops me off, if I feel like going out. Or I'll get a cab, if I have the money for all that stuff. But I never drive.
I quit drinking about 18 days ago and I haven't went out since. But I'm thinking of going out again sometime next weekend. I still love to go out, but I don't want to drink anymore.
I'm just wondering if any of you know of some people that go out without drinking alcohol?? And what kind of non-alcoholic beverage is good to drink when going out?? Just curious...Thanks...
If you are an alcoholic, why don't you give yourself more time before you expose yourself to that environment? If you aren't, then just have diet coke with lime, or any kind of fruit juice. Don't be surprised if the bar seems a lot less fun than it was with social lubricant.
There are plenty options out there for non drinkers in bars. Most cocktails, the 'foo foo' types, can be made without alcohol. Do expect to pay for non-alcoholic drinks like this, the rent still needs to be paid.
I do believe designated drivers should be allowed a few sodas 'on the house' but not everyone is a designated driver on this thread. When you go out, expect to pay.
I do this all the time! Sometimes I just don't want to drink or I don't want to deal with the effects of drinking too much the next day. I usually order a seltzer with lime. It looks like I'm drinking a vodka tonic, but I'm not. It's not that I'm not comfortable with not drinking, I just don't like having to answer all the questions about why I'm not drinking. It's easier to hold a drink that looks alcoholic and people will leave you alone.
I know of somebody who doesn't drink alcohol when going to a bar. Me. I'm a designated driver. The only thing I'll actually drink is bottled water out of a soda machine. ((I've had one instance where a water I ordered got switched with a vodka... Bad bad day for the server. I was only 18 with a UC cop next to me))
