To piggyback on STT, I've always hated when bars would have very poor orange juice for mixed drinks. Nothing worse than ordering a screwdriver with a moderate vodka (like Absolut or Stoli) and getting bitter, sour disgusting orange juice that either came from a mix like Tang or was in a bottle and separated but never shaken up!
When I was in my 20s and a big vodka & OJ drinker, I used to go to the Cumberland Farms (a convenience store) across the street from our hang-out bar, and bring in my own bottle of really good orange juice. Then I could just order the vodka neat/straight and mix it myself! I was a regular so the bartender didn't mind.
Yes, poor OJ is quite an insult! Ah, Cumberland Farms - are they still around? Lived in CT back in the 70s and remember them well!
I haven't tried any flavored vodkas...I'm really not interested in them. I usually will go for Ciroc, Grey Goose. or Ketel one - but don't regularly want to spend the $ on them so will go with the cheaper brands especially since I usually make mixed drinks- can't stand Absolut though. If I'm going to drink it straight..then I will go for one of the above named.
I went to a Swedish college where everyone was in love with Absolut.
I rarely drink vodka straight up, and as long as there is no nail polish remover-y aftertaste, it's all good. As flavored vodkas go, I've only really enjoyed pepper-infused vodka to make spicy bloody marys, and my favorite restaurant, a German-Austrian place, makes a martini called "Der Schmutzige," which uses a Polish vodka that's mustard-seed infused as a base. It's phenomenal, but I can't find what brand it is. I only remember that it's a Polish vodka.

That's the one! Where did you find it? I couldn't find anyplace on Grunauer's menu online that specified the type of vodka, but I knew I read it on the menu in-house.
