My summer drink was vanilla vodka and pineapple juice served as a martini, sometimes with a shot glass of simple syrup on the side to add as I wish. It's now getting cooler out and I'm not sure what to switch it up to this year.

How about a hot buttered rum made with milk? Use store bought batter or make your own. Here's a recipe that's good. I use a1/4 tsp of apple pie spice instead of individual spices, and a little more brown sugar than it calls for. The use whole milk in place of the water. Delicious!

My eldest is visiting and made me a birthday cocktail. I don't know the name, but it's very good, and warming.

A Hendricks gin cocktail with elderberry liquor, tumeric and cayenne.
