Some of the reasons people drink alcohol which is good for you ! ! !

Prov:31:6: Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish,
and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Eccl:9:7: Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart;
for God now accepteth thy works.

Eccl:10:19: A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry:
but money answereth all things.

1Tm:5:23: Drink no longer water,
but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

I really love a glass or two of wine now and then. I don't drink every day,
but often when I'm with friends I drink wine. It helps me wind down
from the day's stress and it makes me happier. I vowed long ago to
never drink alcohol if I was depressed. I don't ever want to feel that I
need alcohol to get by. But I certainly enjoy it when I'm already in a
good mood.

Once in a while, at a restaurant, I'll have a bloody mary as an appetizer
before dinner. Yum!

It all starts in their college years when they get cut into the "work hard, play hard" mentality, and roommates take turns being the one that blacks out. They decide ahead of time who will be taking care of who on what day of the week. So why do people drink so much? Peer pressure. They think it's normal. Just because.

I drink to take the pain away.
When I had medical insurance I was prescribed muscle relaxers and pain killers.

I drink for the buzz. It alters reality for the better and makes me feel good. My default combo for a night of getting high is a bottle of wine and 4-6 cans of beer or cider.

to be able to put up with other drunk people.

a little buzz before bed helps me fall asleep a little quicker, particularly if I have a lot on my mind and/or didn't do anything physically active during the day.

Alcohol is the only drug, which is legal across the board. Legal around the world and, drinking alcohol is socially acceptable. Therefore, people abuse it. Its ok to be labeled an "alcoholic." It is not ok to be labeled a heroin addict.

Alcohol is the most destructive drug known to mankind and its going to bring down this society. People drink it to access, because it is acceptable to drink it.

Some people drink socially maybe averaging 1 drink daily then you have your heavier drinkers. When it becomes a problem is when it affects the lives of those around you or when you drink in secret to hide your "Shame". A friend of mine married a closet drunk. I know hard to believe but they swear they didn't know. All this secrecy and shame has got to be a drag. Sad really
