Here in New Orleans we are lucky to have a superb beer bar, The Avenue Pub. They will have an awesome selection of IPAs available to try this coming Thursday for International IPA Day. Here's what they already have lined up - more will probably be available on the day itself.

Hopitoulas New Orleans IPA
Mikkeller Single Hop Simcoe
Mikkeller Single Hop Amarillo
Mikkeller Brett US Alive
Hoptimum, Sierra Nevada
Endeavor American double IPA
Hopsickle American Triple IPA
Stone SSR American Black IPA
Green Flash West Coast IPA
Brick Mason double IPA
Emmelisse Belgian Black IPA
Evil Twin Dicso Beer Imperial IPA
Brick Mason HopLanta
Stillwater Black IPA
Evil TwinYin Yang Imperial IPA & Imperial stout blend
Thornbridge Hall Jasmine English IPA
Brooklyn English IPA

Needless to say, we'll be cabbing it home on Thursday!

Anyone else got some tasty beverages lined up for IPA Day?

It is one major type of beer, India Pale Ale. Characteristically, it is made with a lot of hops, giving it a distinctive flavor.

Thanks for the 'heads up'. OK, it's maybe eight miles away, but there is a place that has maybe 50 beers on tap. I'm sure that there a few IPA's.

IPAs are definitely an acquired taste. I didn't like them for many years, but started drinking pale ales like Sierra Nevada. Once I had grown to love those, IPAs were the next national progression. Now they're my favourite beer style!

There should be at least a couple of good ones if you're going to a bar with 50 taps. Let us know which ones you try!

Depends on the day for me. But more often than that, they're a bit too much. Rather go with a pale ale or something similar.
