There is a difference. People here mostly just said that it's all the same alcohol, but they were obviously not thinking about the different origins of the drinks.
Tequila is made from a different plant than the one from where vodka comes from and so on for all other different alcoholic drinks.
So there has to be a reason why some people would notice a distinct difference in the alcohol "buzz".
Not only that but each type of alcoholic drink has a very distinct taste as we all know.
From my early drinking days, I noticed and remembered that bourbon, that I usually drank with Coke made me feel tired and I was easily frustrated with things around me like the talk and I usually just got tired of that quickly and only wanted to go to sleep after a few drinks.
But I clearly noticed the difference when I would drink a few shots of a good gold Tequila that I would chase down with a good, cold Mexican beer.
The Tequila "buzz" was very mellow and I wanted to interact with people more. I was "friendlier".
And I always felt in complete control of my words and actions around people.
The key was not to "over drink", although I usually enjoyed the Tequila buzz so much that I would make the mistake of taking a few more shots that would only mellow me out more to the point of just getting tired.
So now as an older much more responsible adult, I always limit myself to only 2 shots of a good, gold Tequila and a good, COLD Mexican beer chaser. Everything in moderation. Less is more.
I suspect that most people have certain drinks they prefer over others. The pace and amount of alcohol probably varies considerably when comparing your favorite drinks to your least favorite drinks. A person that loves rum may drink quite a bit too quickly, while someone that isn't a fan of beer may drink it much slower.
I've never noticed a difference in the type of buzzes/drunks I feel from different types of alcohol. Although I did take 4 shots of some bottom shelf vodka within 10 mins once and threw up within an hour. That's never happened to me before and I can usually take 10+ shots of whiskey and barely feel buzzed lol. I don't get hangovers.

I think this is it.
I'm not a big drinker, but Margaritas are likely to = inebriation for me, whereas other drinks aren't, necessarily. But this is because when I drink beer, the carbonation slows me down and I don't drink as quickly. When I drink wine and non-Margarita mixed drinks, I tend to sip. But I LOVE, love love the salty citrus combination in Margaritas, and tend to toss them back with abandon. I'm less moderate with Margaritas, because I love them the most.
I only have a hangover (which, for me, only consists of a severe headache), if I don't properly hydrate. it doesn't really matter what kind of alcohol I've had. Insufficient hydration = hangover.

Yeah, when I was more of a scotch drinker it never gave me a hangover. What gets me now is for some reason I get more easily buzzed on white wine than red given equal quantities/strengths of either.
Gin makes me evil. I haven't had any gin for over 25 years. Occasionally I'll drink bourbon, but not much. Maybe a shot on the rocks. Not much of a hard liquor fan. I'll buy maybe a bottle of bourbon every 6 months. In the winter I like Asbach Uralt- a German brandy. Again not much and usually in good coffee with cream and chocolade shavings.
Now beer? I love craft beer. I've found wheat beers make me a little congested- I shy away from them. I get stuffed up pretty quick on those. Scottish ales are my favorite drink. The brew ingredients for a Scotch ale just sit right with me and I can have 2-3 pints and not feel bloated or hungover in the morning. Good stuff.
Pretty much anything between those two and I'm okay, just a happy camper with a few brews in my belly.
