Get a plastic cup or glass....add ice cubes, pour vodka (zero carbs!)...about 1 to 1 1/2 shots in it.
Add raspberry Crystal Light mixed drink in it....then top off (to the top) with diet Mountain Dew. Don't bother stirring. Drink.
It is fabulous. Non-offensive, carb-free....harmless to a diabetic person.

It makes you happy and not drunk! Even if you do not like Mountain Dew, if makes no difference. It is delicious.

I made that up tonight. I recommend it, highly. Gets you mellow. You will want to sing.

Enjoy.....~rainroosty~

(edit: well....maybe it still makes you drunk....it was still real tasty. )
I should have posted it differently as it doesn't really need to be a thread.

I'm sure the OP knows this, but for the benefit of others... some diabetics can drink alcohol in moderate quantities (one drink a day for women, two for men), while others cannot. Alcohol suppresses blood sugar, so it is not compatible with certain medications. Here's a little primer on the subject, although diabetics should consult a doctor about whether drinking is appropriate for them.

Alcohol and Diabetes - Drinking Alcohol and Diabetes

As to the drink itself, vodka alone is as safe as it gets, which is why many diabetics who drink choose vodka martinis or vodka on the rocks. The issues mainly come from adding mixers, like fruit juices and sodas that contain sugar.

What has been suggested here is mixing vodka with "diet" drinks containing sugar substitutes. The rising issue in this case is that recent research has indicated that sugar substitutes may also dangerous to diabetics.

So be careful, be cautious, stay up with the latest research.

Hey this one could be good for those of us who are counting carbs, too. I'm not drinking much alcohol these days (dieting) but every now and then a "rainroosty special" would hit the spot.

I think a good option for diabetics would be to take some vodka, put it in a glass, and drink it.

For variety, you could try adding ice, or using a different type of glass.

I stay away from the mixers and just use straight booze and ice.

As per my suggestion above. However, some types of booze, such as rum and cachaça, are not very suitable for diabetics, even when neat.
