Hanging out with friends in Rome, Italy from opposing teams, I think a group of 5 amassed a bar tab of over 550 Euro. Incredible evening that I don't remembera thing of.
biggest bar tab was for my wife's 30th birthday.... $200 for us two....it was a party of about 10-12.....a few of them didn't tip very well apparently....so i gave the waiter an extra $100 tip. over $300 total for the night.....
On a business trip to San Fran ordered a VO and water and the guy I was with the same. Server came back and said they had no VO but offered another choice. Had a second round. Bill comes and it was $50 per drink. Ripped off. I have tended bar and waited tables and for the first time in my life I stiffed the server.
Ha! I learned, never be the last one at the table. Once, I was out with a group, friends, coming and going, people ordered drinks, left some money on the table, so, end of the night, we get the bill, $550, cash on table? Less than $200, lesson learned.

This happened last weekend at a wedding after-party. 20-30 people coming and going "leaving cash on table" as they left. Tab was $1000 to the wedding couple. Total cash was $400. Since we were close friends with the bride, we (gf and I) paid half the tab but really only spent $50 between the two of us. It's crazy how it doesn't matter how upscale the wedding or venue is, people are always cheap.
