There was a surgeon who liked to drink daiquiris with a little nutmeg grated on top. One evening, he ordered one, but the bartender couldn't find the nutmeg. But he did find another kind of nut, which he grated onto the drink. When he served it, the surgeon remarked that it tasted good, but different, and asked the bartender what was different about it.
The bartender replied, "It's a hickory daiquiri, Doc."
A classic non-frozen fresh lime daiquiri is my favorite cocktail, and it was Ernest Hemingway's favorite, too.
Last year I found that when he could get fresh garpefruits he'd add a tablespoon of grapefruit juice. It's slightly more tart, and quite tasty.
