Just curious; what do you mean by "a lot of beer"?

Maybe you grew up, lol.

I'm in my 50s. In my 20s I used to be able to down the better part of a case during a night (and not "light" beer). But as Dean Wormer said, "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son."

One weird thing I have noticed is that if I travel back to the upper midwest for work or to visit family I can still put away a 6 pack of beer over the course of an evening. Plus I really don't feel it the next morning.

But if I am here in Arizona or traveling around to neighboring states, 3 maybe 4 beers is my limit. When I am someplace with higher elevation, 3 beers is my max and 2 beers feels just right.

There is something about the upper midwest that brings the beer drinker out in me as well.

Where I am now, I can't do that. I think largely it is because I drink better quality beers.

Looking at beer drinking trends by age group, it is common for people to drink less as they age. this has been a phenomenon for a long time. It is just how the body works.

Yep...

Most times, 2 or 3 beers is enough for me these days.

I find myself drinking bourbon, Scotch, or tequila (in moderate amounts also) more often than I used to.

You may be drinking the wrong beers! Granted I'm only 51, but my consumption has increased since I've discovered "craft" beers! However, depending on the alcohol content, sometimes all i can handle are two! FWIW...

microbrews contain way more alcohol than that stuff you sucked down as a young man. i could drink an 18 pack of coors light all day, itd be equivalent to drinking 5 or 6 microbrews. microbrews range from 25% to 150% stronger than light mass produced corn water (aka budlight, coors, miller).
