Because it's cheap, because they're trying to get trashed on a budget, ore because they're simple bumpkins with unrefined palates.

Default Why do people drink crap beer?

Different strokes, etc...

Personally, I've never tasted a light beer of any sort that was much better than alka-seltzer. But it sells by the trainload, so it must appeal to millions.

It's OK that some peoples' preferences vary.

Urgh light beer. Sometimes I buy one just for a change and then I taste it and remember why I never usually buy it.

you can't argue with taste. So, why try?

Sometimes I don't want to get drunk after 2 or 3 beers. If I drink crap light beers at least I won't get drunk in 1 or 2 hours.

Of course there's no comparison on taste, light beers are trash.

Or you could make sure to eat and then drink slower so you don't get drunk.

I know how to drink. Unlike a lot of other guys, I don't drink every single day and am not in the process of trying to become a functional alcoholic. Many good micro craft beers are anywhere from 9-20% abv. 3 of those are going to make you feel drunk (can be the same as 3 glasses of wine) no matter how much you reasonably eat (a buzz is being drunk). Unless of course you are 220 lbs or have a tolerance from drinking all of the time. I'm not going to sit at a baseball game in 95 degree weather in August pounding 10% double or triple IPAs, imperial stouts, or Belgian ales over the course of 8 hours (game + tailgate). I've had almost every style of beer under the moon, and have tried an uncountable number of beers from micro breweries. There's a time and place for every type of beer.

Plenty of good craft lagers or wheat beers that meet the requirements you seem to have. Just sayin'.

No one said you needed to drink every day or become any sort of alcoholic. The thing is, if you don't drink 2-3 beers in 1-2 hours and extend the time you take to consume said beers, you won't be drunk.

If you think they don't primarily drink crap beer in other countries you should check out the top selling beers in Europe, Canada, China, Japan, etc.

Tons of crap beer like Boddington, Snow, Skol, Foster's, Asahi, Heineken, Brahma, Juliper, Amstel, Labatt Blue, etc. in addition to the crap American beers like Bud Lite and Miller Lite that they also drink.

The average European isn't drinking Westvletern any more than the average American is drinking Russian River.
