There are truly world-class beers available for not a lot of money- I pay $7.99 a six-pack for Black Butte Porter from Deschutes Brewery, which scores a 96 in independent reviews on Beer Advocate.

It just seems like a shame to waste perfectly good money on semi-fermented skunk **** flavored rice water, mass-marketed as a potable liquid by some mega-brewery.

They drink it because that's what they're accustomed to drinking, and many find darker and hoppier beers too harsh on their palate. Same reason the majority of Americans still drink Maxwell-House style coffee and have kept Velveeta "cheese" a major brand.

Everyone's tastes are different. Mind your own business and you won't have anything to complain about.

We wouldn't have thousands of restaurants in this world if we all wanted the same thing, same with beer. People drink for various reasons...and I personally am not a fan of the rankings at BA, they have their own biases...

Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

I have several colleagues who enjoy both micro- and macrobrews and once asked what their go to beer is...the responses are usually BEAST, NATTY ICE, Keystone, etc. It's the same with wine as well. Generally these people like to drink more then they let on, and they drink these brands because they are cheaper. Some prefer the drinkability of the cheaper stuff too, it's like drinking water.

IMHO people who drink the fizzy yellow stuff don't really like beer. There is no real flavour except for a vomit type taste that s only there briefly as you skull the drink. Its extremely cheap and easy to catch a buzz off of it for most. I think the fact they drink the stuff ice cold shows they don't like beer as there is very little taste at that temperature.

Cold and refreshing yes, tasty and satisfying ... nope.

Water is cool, refreshing, and free. It also doesn't look and smell like skunk urine.

People who drink crap beer don't actually like beer- they just like to pee a lot.

I think Brian nailed it- if they can only get it down when it's ice cold, then they don't really like the taste of it. I fact, they're using all that ice to suppress the "taste" of it.

I drink most of my beers at cellar temperature, because the beers I drink actually taste good, and I really like beer.

If everyone admitted it, ALL beer tastes like crap!

The truth is everyone has to develop a taste for the awful stuff.

No thanks! I prefer to spend my money on crap vacations.
