Can people get drunk off of just a few sips of alcohol? I've had less than a shot of a beverage with eight percent alcohol, and my head is spinning. Is this my imagination, or might I possibly be experiencing alcoholic symptoms? I don't want to get drunk. Does this mean I'm only limited to non-alcoholic beverages the next time I go out? What would you recommend instead?

I'm not a small person and 99% of the time I can have a drink and not feel any effect, but this happens to me every now and then. Not sure why.
If you don't drink very often its possible that could feel a slight buzz. However, your head shouldn't be "spinning" from such a small amount. I would guess there might be a different cause such as a slight illness or perhaps you didn't eat enough that day?
My roommate bought a six pack for his 21st birthday. At first we planned to split it half half, but apparently he very rarely drank before, so he could barely get it down. I ended up getting five of the cans while he had just one. After finally finishing that one can he started acting drunk lol. I knew there was no way in hell that dude could be drunk lmao

Technically, yes, they can. Realistically, however, your head was "spinning" more likely from anticipation, anxiety, or excitement and not the alcohol.

Whether one is a first time drinker, or a veteran (without a physical dependency on alcohol), alcohol affects everyone roughly in the same manner. That is to say that what is going on in the body, physiologically, is the same in both drinkers whether one drink was taken or five. The difference is that the experienced drinker has "learned" the effects of alcohol and has "learned" how to "function" under the influence. But both would still be just as drunk barring any severe physiological differences.
As an example, an experienced drinker knows when it is appropriate to let loose and when to keep their cool. A novice drinker will just "go with it".
Bottom line: even though you were able to keep your cool you were still in fact five beers drunker than your buddy.

I hate that woozy feeling. Does this mean I should probably just stick to non-alcoholic beverages? I like the taste of alcohol, just not the effects.
