Curious, with so many beers in circulation, plus it's Football season here in the States. Is there a particular beer you would always drink on any occasion? Any beer (besides Colt 45) you wouldn't drink even under the threat of death?

Favorites: El Pacifico, Corona (drank it in college), Heineken, Brooklyn Brewery

Least Favorites: Colt 45 (should be illegal to sell, imho), any Miller beer

I drink different beers for different occasions and drink dozens of different beers a year, from Miller Lite to La Fin du Monde. If it was a beer for "any" occasion, probably Miller High Life becaus eit is extremely versatile. I won't drink a number of imports, such as Heineken or Corona, mainly because they are usually spoiled due to packaging and transit.

I like to go for local micros whenever possible. I'll generally reach for any of the following as my session "everyday" beers

Big Boss Blanco Diablo
Fullsteam El Toro
Lonerider Shotgun Betty
Westbrook White Thai

My mass market beer of choice tends to be Yuengling, so that's another possibility.

Yuengling Lager's usually in the fridge as a good 'all-purpose' beer, other than that I'll drink everything from a Weissbier to Guinness and Chimay, depends on my mood and if it's going with a particular food.

Some events I attend offer Bud, Bud Lite, & Yuenling. So, I take one for the team and drink Yuenling. Normally I don't drink anything from The Big 3; Bud, Miller, Coors. Sam Adams makes a lot of beers I like, and a few I don't. I'm not overly fond of Boston Lager, although it is available almost everywhere. I like several beers by Magic Hat, Saranac, Shock Top (Yeah, I know ABInBev owns them), and a lot of New England microbreweries. I have a couple of beers most evenings, and most of them are beers I brewed myself.

BTW, why is this a poll?

Yes, Yuengling, I forgot about that. Good beer.

Steel Reserve is the nastiest beer ever made.

Typically go with Coors Light, Bud Light, Miller's Best Light

When dining out, I pick the pricer, better beers that's available... Founder's being my favorite

No offense to the OP but Corona is an awful beer. Half the time it is skunked. But otherwise it, like most Mexican, Canadian, Australian, or Asian beers is just a clone of generic American pale lagers.

I admit to being cranky about beer. I will not reward A-B, Miller, or Coors by buying any of their mainstream products. Light beers are just worth the money - so if offered I would decline and drink water.

A beer I would drink with just about anything is Sam Adams Boston Lager or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. These are readily available in most decent places and they are flavorful, high quality products.

Beers with roasted malts such as Porter or Stout can overwhelm food, so I tend to drink them after a meal. In general though I choose bitter beers. The selection of craft brew IPAs is massive today where ten years ago that was an uncommon style. US national breweries that consistently produce good beers include Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Boston Brewing Company, New Belgium, and Lagunitas.

For something available what seems virtually everywhere at a reasonable price it's my favorite. Trader Joe's had a summer brew I liked a lot but in short supply, seeking more after my first 6 pack I asked and was told when it was gone it was gone. I'll probably buy a case or two early next summer.
