Your go-to "cheap" domestic beer? (liquor, flavor, use)

The only time I go for cheap (and invariably bland and uninteresting) beer is when I'm working outdoors on a hot day and am primarily seeking something light and refreshing. Then I might grab, say, some Mich Golden Light.

Right now I've got some Sierra Nevada in the refrigerator. When I want to simply enjoy a beer, I'll pay more and get something actually worthy drinking for pleasure.

Save yourselves some money and just buy Perrier instead.

You'll save money, won't be able to taste the difference and DWI will never be an issue.

In this situation I almost exclusively Coors Light.

My order is probably:

Coors Light
Miller Lite
Budweiser
Michelob Ultra
Bud Light

I can buy a 12-pack of stubby bottles of Session's lager, black lager, or IPA for about $12 from three different convenience stores within four blocks of my apartment. It's made by Full Sail and all three types are pretty good.

So if someone can explain to be why I should be buying Coors Light or Michelob when I can have something fairly decent at $1/bottle I'm all ears.

For instance, I can buy a 6pack of 16oz cans for $4.29 at 5.5% alcohol. Bud Light is $6.99 for a 6pack of 12oz cans at 2.5%.

When buying cheap, I tend to go with the higher alcohol cheap beers also. Milwaukee's Best Ice (5.9%) & Steel Reserve High Gravity (8.1%). Don't laugh. The Bro's on Beer Advocate give these drinks some respect. If these aren't an option, then I'll go with Budweiser.

Good clear pale apperance with some lace, clean aroma with a hint of alcohol. Quite crisp with a light body, thin on the malt with extremely faint hops. Alcohol shows that it is there as there is not much to hind behind. Not too bad for an ice beer at $5.99 at 12-pack its a bargin.

Steel Reserve High Gravity
One of the most drinkable malt liquors I have tasted, one of the more alcoholic ones I have run into also. Even when it warms up a bit it does not get ghastly like other malt liquors do.

Yuengling at home when not craft. But if working around the house/yard, it's Schaefer. It's a solid hot day working up a sweat beer.

The last time I had any of those was probably in the 1980s. There are just to many good beers around to mess with them unless you are just looking for a cheap buzz.
When I did that, it was Miller Draft.
