Please lord protect me from strangling the next bartender who ask me if I want vodka or gin in my martini! It is gin you trendy nitwit, and damned straight it needs vermouth!

Oh get over yourself....martini have been made with either for overy 60 years...and would you really prefer that you got the wrong drink because the bartender was trying to read your mind?
