I started to notice I couldn't bounce back as well after a night out in my late 20's, the hangovers were terrible. I haven't been much of a party girl now for about 13-14 years because the whole next day is a waste. I have a glass of wine, 2 at the most these days, usually with food/apps, followed by water.

I'm in my 40s now and I handle drinking much better than I did in my 20s.

I think it's because 1) I pace myself, 2) I limit the number of drinks and the number of hours, and 3) I take a vitamin/milk thistle concoction with lots of water before I go to bed.

Or...you've built a good tolerance over the years.

True But in my defense, I did not drink at all for about 15 years while I was raising the kiddies.

I have 4-6 drinks per session and that's not enough to cause me hangovers, as far as headaches or upset stomach.

However, a couple of things have occurred with aging. Drinking is limited to two nights a week. The quality of sleep has been affected adversely. This was not the case when wearing a younger man's clothes. Secondly, I'm in a depressive funk on the day following a nighttime drinking session. This too began with old age.

I've found in my late 20's that 3 craft beers with copious amounts of water and a Powerade and banana before bed is my perfect amount to feel 99% the next day as well as get me pretty decently buzzed and social. If I go for the 4th-6th one, which I sometimes do , I feel very sluggish and have a slight headache the next day and swear off IPA's forever, or at least until the next day or two. I don't even think about touching liquor anymore as even the tiniest amount produces a headache the next day now.

I appreciate the anti-hangover suggestions. Good stuff.

Now when I drink, I'm practically out of commission the next day. And I'm not drinking a lot either. Anybody else feel like they had a high tolerance that changed to a lower tolerance? It's almost a feeling so bad that I find myself not wanting to drink period.
What does that mean to you, "not drinking a lot"? I mean I am asking you the specific amounts. If you were really not drinking a lot, then you wouldn't be "practically out of commission the next day".

I never had much tolerance. And more than 2-3 typically gives me a headache the next day. Particularly the later they are consumed. It also means I sleep like crap, very restless.

I just try to avoid drinking more than 1-29 drinks. A few times a year I might have 3 over a long day. Today I had 2.5 and I feel exhausted. But it is early and have plenty of time to get hydrated.

I know what you mean - I only hit the 29 mark a few times a year.
