Hi,

Just came across an old bottle of Cuban Rum my wife found while cleaning out her father's apartment shortly after his passing. We've had it more than 20 years, and never really gave it much thought. I recently saw some vintage liquor posted on line, and thought I'd try and get some information about this old bottle. The label reads: Ron Superior DE Lopo, Alvarez y CA along with 45 years old. I've posted photos and hope someone may be able help establish an age and value. This bottle is sealed, and the labels are in excellent condition. Thank you in advance for your help.
Mike

It would be safe to assume it was acquired before the embargo around 1960-1962. The bottle says 1900 and is 45 years old so maybe your wife's father bought it between 1945 and the embargo? Just putting two and two together. Have you tasted it? it should be really good. I'm not a rum drinker myself but that looks good.

What did you want to know?

Default Ron Superior De Lopo

Hello,
Thank you very much for your response. Not sure how long my father-in-law had it before we discovered it, but he was close to 90 when he passed more than 20 years ago. We know he didn't do much traveling in his later years, so this bottle could have been in his possession since the 1950's or even earlier. This bottle is unopened and still contains its original seal and stamps. Hoping someone might be able to help us determine an estimated value.

Thanks again for your response,
Mike

Since you are interested in the value, who better than to talk to the people that sell vintage rum. Here is a google search on that. Follow the links and perhaps you can email someone to get an appraisal.
