Let's make a thread that will fully explain the history of alcholic beverages... add everything you know about the topic

So, it all starts 6000 B.C. when vine was produced first. It were monks who created it, and they did it until 18th, or 19th century when their land was destroyed by non-catholic governments, as it is said from the article. http://www.ancient-origins.net/histo...-saints-009159

It seems that those monks were enjoying drinking alcohol, doesn't it?

On the other hand, it is consider that the beer is firstly produced by Babylonians, or Assyrians.

The liquors came later.. around 15th century.

Nice timing for this thread. I was just reading that the oldest evidence for wine making is from the Republic of Georgia (8000 years old).

On a side note, the oldest evidence for the making of cheese is from Poland from roughly the same time period.

I think you will find that people made good things to eat and drink as soon as they could make fire. There's some evidence that tequila was made in what is now S. and C. America for about 10,000 years.
